May meeting

The May meeting of the CEPN Business Form was held at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on Thursday 12th May. In total 35 members and guests enjoyed an evening of talks and networking.

Amanda Daniels opened the meeting and asked everyone to give 15 seconds of what they do and who they would like to be connected to.

The 10 minute member slot was Iain Girling of Girling Supplies being interviewed by Frank Rogers who is the presenter of CEPN TV! iain was asked about his products, market place and what referrals he was looking for to gain additional exposure for Girling Supplies. Girling Supplies provides catering solutions for all buisnesses who manufacture or process food for sales to the public from either shop, restaurant or hotel.

The raffle saw a number of prizes that were offered by members businesses as well as the wine and 200 words promoting the members business on the CEPN web site.

The main speaker was Andrew Greenyer (Head of Marketing Knowledge and IT) from Business Link North West. He started by saying that Business Link is staying open, but unfortunately the regional operation is closing November 2011. A new product will replace it ‘Coaching for Growth’.

Andrew then showed a series of short videos highlighting how businesses should be using Social Media as a marketing tool. Putting Facebook, Twitter and Linked In on business banners. Social media is no longer a fad and it is estimated that 22% of time spent on line is for using social media. Andrew then discussed the many different technologies available and how best to use them.

He finished by listing the following:
1. Set out your objectives for social media
2. Think about long term relationships
3. Start with listening to customers and colleagues
4. Use e marketing and social media together
5. Think of your e marketing and social networking as a reflection of your organisation
6. Think ROI (return on investment) not cost

After questions, the meeting closed with thanks from Amanda Daniels. The next meeting is on 9th June at Chester Sports and Social Club, Hoole.

Workability Recruitment Response provides a free recruitment service to SMEs

Workability Recruitment Response provides a free recruitment service to SMEs within Cheshire West and Chester.  Funded by ERDF and run from CWAC’s Ellesmere Port offices, WRR will handle all stages of the recruitment process from listing the vacancy on the directgov website, handling applications, short listing and interviewing candidates, a bit like having a recruitment agency working with them for free!

This is the support programme ‘Workability Response’, which in simple terms supports SME’s with recruitment.

This is a free service to local companies to assist them with filling vacancies, a bit like having a recruitment agency working with them for free! If you can circulate to businesses and perhaps Helen could join you at any future events, she’s more than a happy to speak to any interested companies.
